Bard Ventures Ltd. (CDNX:CBS) ("Bard") is pleased to announce that it has received confirmation that the application for the newly reconfigured license in the Larne Basin, Northern Ireland has recently been approved by the government authorities. This new license was selected to include what is thought to be the most prospective acreage within the onshore portion of the Larne Basin. This new license will allow the joint venture partners to carefully plan the next phase of exploration, which is expected to commence in the near future.

The Larne basin is one of several basins within the United Kingdom that is known to contain a thick sequence of the Sherwood sandstone. This sandstone is the reservoir for a number of major oil and gas fields in adjacent basins with analogous geology, including the Morecambe Bay field (7 TCF), the Liverpool Bay fields (200 to 400 mmbbls) and the recently discovered Corrib gas field (>1 TCF). Within the new Larne license a previous well intersected over 640 meters of Sherwood sandstone with a gas show. The well, drilled by the government for geothermal energy was not tested. Over 100 kilometers of seismic has defined a number of targets within the new license area. These and other prospective areas will be evaluated as exploration continues.
Bard is looking forward to the commencement of exploration on the Larne license, which is part of the company's ongoing efforts to develop a diversified oil and gas portfolio.
